Scholarship Update: at an IHOP in Chicago.

This is gonna be short and sweet. We just got off an airplane in Chicago (looking through remaining profiles during the entire flight) and we're now at an IHOP with our laptops connected to the ceiling outlets....finalizing the scholarship process. We're down to a couple dozen people.....aaaaggggggghhhhhh! We might as well just put 'em all up on the wall and throw darts. They all deserve it.

We're in town for the national FBLA conference....unfortunately we were traveling during the same day that scholarship winners are announced. It's 10:42pm here. Rest assured though, we are definitely posting the winners tonight!

In the meantime, feel free to check out one of our recent productions. A couple weeks ago, Brad put together some sick rhymes. Click on the link to check out our official theme song. You won't be disappointed. Hopefully this can hold you off for a few hours.

While I'd love to stay up to see, here it's ten after midnight and I'm kind of tired. Again this site is great, get it or not. It's really cool. I've been really checking it out all day. I'd love to help out with it, if possible. Thanks for the chance :)

Ankita:

That's great!! Haha the remix is awesome...remember the name is my favorite song :)

I agree with Britney Berger. My heart was beating SO HARD when I saw that there was a new post. I'm super nervous, but super excited & super thankful that I was able to be a finalist in the first scholarship I've ever applied for.

keep on truckin!!

Jessica:

Be prepared. All Zinch finalists in the Chicago area have most likely begun a door-to-door IHOP search. :P

Keep up the good work guys! (Don't forget to order some strawberry pancakes for me) lol I can't wait to find out who won!

Shamicka:

I know we're all anxious xD.

Must be a hard decision!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

And thanks for working so hard!

Erin:

I know everyone's already saying it, but thanks for everything. I've applied for so many scholarships and often wonder if my application was just thrown aside or ignored, but I know mine was in good hands with you. I know this was really lame... but I was tempted to go to IHOP to see if i happened to spot you! Hahaha. I just spent the whole day in Chicago out and about and enjoying one of my few days off work and I hope you're loving the place I call home!!!!! (even though you're probably sleep deprived by now...) Good luck with your decision!

teaf:

o mann..it's tight remix that u guys have put together. AWESOME!

Anthony, lover of Zinch:

It's 12:38 am here in Jersey, but at least I don't have to check a bunch of profiles. Keep up the good work!

hey wats up I'm not really here to suck up to you like all the other bloggers...YOU REALLY DO NEED TO HURRY UP, we've all been waiting a really long time. While you're there waiting for more syrup for your pancakes, I'm here waiting for my scholarship..hmmm which sounds more fun?

NAHHHH! Just kidding! I am here to suck up to you. Thanks so much for all your hard work, God Bless you! Zinch.com is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and the people who created it must be gods among men.

Valerie Reeves:

Make sure the dart lands on me! Just kidding! I'm glad you guys can still have a little fun when it's this stressful!

The song is fabulous! Thank you for keeping us updated; I really appreciate the tremendous thought you have put into the process.

:)

Kevin Kimberly:

Haha... Y'all crack me up. Thanks for everything!

Sarah S.:

How many finalists were chosen and how many total scholarships will be awarded?

i love ure song. its hilarious.

Competition is tough.

Anita George:

I can't imagine what y'all must be going through. Even though I feel nervous about waiting for the results, I know you guys must be agonizing over the decision. I can't thank you enough for your dedication to this site and the scholarships.
Enjoy your meal, play a game of darts, and for the love of God GET SOME SLEEP! :P
Rock on!

Jie:

haha...LOVE the theme song, the best

Ariel:

I absolutely love the song! It's great. ^_^

More than a test score:

Pick all of us!

Meghan:

Hey guys,

Well, I was gonna say thanks but so many people already said exactly what I was going to say. But anyways, you guys are at nationals in Chicago! I was gonna go this year but it didn't work out, super bummed. But my friend is their competing. Good luck everyone there and here at home waiting patiently (or impatiently) for both results.

Teresa:

Well I'm in MN and its now midnight central time.
I'm staying up watching season 2 of the Office. Does anyone know when season 3 comes out on dvd?
Oh wow, stressful day...good luck everyone!

Monica Zavala:

Once again, thanks a million!

Shamicka:

I just loved the remix to the "Remember the Name" song. You guys did a really good job on it.

It's only 10:00 pm in California, so still another 2 hours to try to make a decision before the end of the 27th :-) Hope I'm one of the couple dozen still in the running! It would be nice to be a recipient of the scholarship so I could cut back on my work hours a little and enjoy the summer with a bit of free time!

BTW, for anyone else on the West Coast, be sure to watch deadlines on scholarships when you apply on-line, often the deadline is based on Eastern time ... I missed getting a scholarship essay in by 2 hours because of the deadline was Eastern time, and I didn't catch that ... it was an essay that took quite a bit of research, but lesson learned.

Angela Kim:

Hey you guyz, i want to say thank you for all your hard work in the decision process... you guyz let us know that there are people who truly care for us students and are trying your very best to make a difference in our lives... it is people like you who make difference in this world!!

Katie Spenik:

I love the theme song... :) ...

Good Luck choosing... I know u will chose the right person...

nigel fuentes:

man i've been waiting all day here on the west coast and i keep checking and keep getting more and more excited.

Yes another Office fan. Hey Alexandra season 3 of the office comes out September 4. Go Dunder-Mifflin!

i am more than a freakin test score!:

WOOT!

Well...
since you're there at IHOP....

Why not order some Pancakes for the rest of us who may not win.

At least we can be like "yesss! Oh Man!! ... Pancakes!... dude, we got pancakes!!!"

Hey! I'm also here in Chicago and just wanted to say welcome to the windy city! I hope you guys enjoy your time here and, like everyone else, thanks for taking so much time to go through everyone's profiles. I know I'm thankful that you guys at least gave me a chance :-)

Ashlee Hinchcliff:

:] nerves are going crazy...

Any luck on all your hard work?

Brooke Bitter:

Oh wow, I think that firefox is about to slap me for refreshing so much! But hey, while you're at IHOP, try the Banana Caramel Cheesecake.. it sounds kinda gross, but it's basically amazing.

Hey, yes, this second blog made my go THUMP! Great theme song by the way. I'll be up all night waiting and doing my class assignment. Goodluck on your decisions. And congrats to all the finalist. Remember, we are more than test scores and help your fellow peers believe that too!

Anand Kesavaraju:

i feel like i'm echoing basically everyone who posted before me but...you guys are doing a great job!

after you're done, find a nice hotel and just crash!

Sschwoeb:

I am anxiously waiting! ;-)

Rick Chen:

Apparently there were 10% of the total pool that was chosen as finalists for their scholarships. If you were a finalist, you got e-mailed. I believe they said on an earlier post or their e-mail that one out of every ten that applied (the 10% number I mentioned earlier) was a finalist.

I remember applying to each and every scholarship that Zinch had. I know there were several. I wonder if they're announcing all of the winners for each scholarship or if they are just doing one; it seems a little bit unclear, at least to me.

Anyways, good-luck everyone. I'll probably check this at work tomorrow.

It's about 1:17 AM in Florida right now. I'm definitely staying up until the winners are posted. Too bad I have to wake up early for work tomorrow. XD
But thank you so much for your hard work and dedication. Remember that sleep is important. (:

thank you for your hard work :)
haha, just getting past the courtesies. i guess i'm checking this tomorrow.

Thanks for all the hard work! I've been checking back all day, its pretty late here.. around 1:30 but ill keep checking! thanks for the opportunity :)

Greg Brusola:

I almost had a heart attack at this post... btw, great remix. haha... Take your time guys. *cough* I agree with Michael. Order about ummm... a thousand pancakes? or is that not enough? haha. good luck!

Houston

Awe... FBLA conference... I love FBLA

Anthony:

1:18 am. La La La

Rowan Univ. rocks

let's go scholarship judges!

Yesi:

I'm in Miami and it's 1:25 AM over here lol. I had to get away from computers all day so I wouldn't freak out, when I got home at midnight I thought i'd finally be at ease but I didn't realize you guys would be in a different time zone! haha! Good luck with the decision making I know i'd be having a tough time with something like that too, the song did keep me entertained for a while though, there should be a video! haha!

MacKenzie Pedersen:

Go Go Go! Work Work Work!! Man, KEEP GOING! I can't even imagine how stressful this must be for you! And searching through all of the remaining profiles must make your fingers and hands REALLY tired! ;)
We all appreciate you SO much! Thanks for givin' all of us a chance! :)
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Lisa:

Just as everyone else said, thanks so much for doing this in the first place. I know that everyone as well as myself appreciates it because I've never been a finalist for a scholarship before and it feels great to see that I've come this far! Thanks so much for your hard work!

Ruthe Wood:

Thanks for the hard work guys!!! And enjoy those pancakes!

Jenelle Vinson:

I find it entertaining that they are probably sitting there, drinking coffee, cool and calm, discussing who to keep and who doesn't quite make it (over pancakes, of all the food items out there), and every finalist out there is practically falling off the edge of their seat with anticipation.

You know, they could just draw it out longer, order another pot of coffee, more pancakes...

Anybody else see the humor in that?

Anywho, I too would like to throw my appreciation out there to the Zinch team for everything they do. Your website and ideas are amazing! Thank you for all you do, and for making a difference in the lives of students everywhere.

Bonnie:

I really shouldn't mess up my hours, but this is definitely a good enough reason to stay up late. Good luck making your decision! It sounds like it's down to the wire.

Jennica:

IHOP...amazing choice.

you guys are champions. that's all.

NAME WITHELD:

Well its 2:00 am in the midwest i think that make it what 12:00 over in cali? I have been on this website since 2:00am yesterday. Wuts Up...................And the Winners Are:????

Haha I'm in Chicago tonight too. My plane home to Detroit was cancelled so I'm stuck here for the night. Good luck making the finalizations!

It's sorta funny, everytime i check back here, i keep getting more and more discouraged at the amount of finalists, i began today think'n "okay, maybe i have a chance.." now i'm like, yeah right. keep dreamin. But to the person that wins, holy flip you must be pretty amazing! Good luck

Kyndl:

11:25 and the countdown begins! I can't believe you guys are staying up this late to cure our anxiety when we should be the one's pampering YOU! In all my experience with administrators and what not I don't know any that would keep going instead of just posting "decisions not finalized. check back tomorrow." You are great people, I admire your generosity!

Anthony:

Where did everyone go?? Did they announce it and i missed it? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm still refreshing and refreshing...

Mark:

Well, if it helps at all I think I will say this: No matter what decisions you all come to, no matter who you choose for these scholarships, it will be the right choice. You guys are in a win-win situation. If you choose one person over another, then you the person you selected will have their future be that much closer to themselves and that much easier to obtain. As for the other person, they just have to work harder to find other ways of getting funds for college. Not to mention that if they were hand selected to get as far as to having to throw a dart at their profile in order to decide who would get it, then I think that they should have no problem finding other scholarships. I think it's safe to say that everyone fervently waiting at their computers watching the little clock in the bottom right hand corner tick away, will be okay with whatever you decide. We're behind you 100%. I hope you guys get some sleep at one point or another today...

Hi, I love the theme song, it is super awesome. Great job! I am in DC and it is 2:31 am and I am still waiting to see the list of winners. I am so anxious. Good luck to everyone!

Bradford Nguyen:

Yes... waiting... 11 minutes? will they make it... (they'll probably go into tomorrow- but who cares right?)

maybe they meant 6/27/08 ;) hahahah

Mark:

Actually, now that I think about it, getting sleep today is probably out of the question, considering there's only about 10 minutes left of today. BUT, make sure to sleep a lot tommorrow. You all rock, thanks for the hard work all you Zinchers :)

Valerie Reeves:

Again, thank you guys so much, and honestly, you are doing so much for students in need. I bet the choice is hard, but you guys will make the right choice. I'll check again in the A.M.

Samantha:

NAME WITHELD:

Anticipation and insomnia have gotten the best of me; but it's nothing a little catching up on Harry Potter won't fix. I hope you're enjoying those funny face pancakes!

Thanks for everything you guys are doing. You really are changing lives.
