Scholarship Winners!
Thanks for being so patient. We appreciate it. It's now about 5:00am Chicago time, but just before midnight Hawaii time....which means we have kept our word. We are delivering the scholarship winners on the 27th of June.
Like I mentioned in the other blog....the competition was FIERCE! Please don't feel bad if you weren't selected. It was an extremely tough process. During the following weeks, we'll be doing stories on these winners. Stay tuned!!!! Also, just a reminder, we have two scholarships still running: Sweet-diggity-dawg Scholarship ($20,000) and the Student Government Scholarship ($1,000). Be sure to apply for those.
Thanks again for being so patient. Also, we added some 4th and 5th place General prizes because there were just soooo many awesome students who were qualified. Also, remember, our theme is "I am more than a test score." We definitely kept that in mind as we selected these individuals.
K. Time to go get some sleep. We have a huge FBLA conference to get to in a couple hours. Peacers. And for all you who stayed up all night with us.....you are awesome! We apologize for keeping you up so late. Zinch.com rocks! Pass it on. Here are the scholarship winners for this round of scholarships.

congrats to the winners, but i have to admit, it does make me a bit sad. its hard living overseas on a military installation (my dad is retired from the air force [21 years] and now he is an army contractor); there are rare scholarship opportunities for us that go to DoDDs schools. zinch should create a scholarship specifically for DoDDs students, and give them an equal chance to follow their dreams. i'm more than just a test score and i'm also more than just a military dependent.

Congratulations to everyone who won!!! It's awesome how much time you spent going through the applications... it truly shows you support your website's purpose!
Does anyone know when the other two scholarships will be announced?

I am pretty disappointed. . . but hey, I'll be okay. ..Congratulations to those of you who DID win.

Congratulations everyone.

Thank you so much for selecting me! From the number of finalists there were, it sounds like the competition was really fierce. Congrats to everyone who qualified as a finalist, and good luck in your college endeavors and beyond!
Bonnie
P.S. There are plenty of times that I've qualified as a finalist, gotten my hopes up, and then didn't win in something - but in the end, that has always been a positive experience for me. The most significant example of that was Presidential Scholars. I made it into the Semifinalist stage, started checking the web site constantly, and was devastated when I realized I wouldn't be getting the free trip to Washington DC to meet the President. But in the end, it made me even more determined to apply for scholarships like this. Judges sometimes really do have to choose between equally qualified applicants on a whim, and if you know that you're good enough, you're guaranteed to win at least a couple of scholarships if you apply to enough of them. That's the most important thing - knowing that you are good enough. Then you don't need anyone else to tell you so, and eventually other people will recognize it.

Congratulations guys! :D
And congratulations to Zinch for making those tough decisions! We all know how hard it must of been to work for that length of time, shifting through profiles. Even if I didn't win, it's amazing to know that my little ol' profile was looked at for even a few minutes. :) It truly shows that y'all care.
Thanks for everything!

Congrats to everyone who one and to all the finalist that did not win...my advice to you all is to keep your hopes strong because there are scholarships for everyone. I have never won a scholarship but im looking...and im pretty sure there are many who have never one, thats why i have a fast web. Thats how I found zinch.com. Theres going to be another drawing in August which includes the grand prize of 20,000 dollars. So my advice to everyone is to keep applying...all you have to know is know how to search...good luck to you all.

Congrats to everyone that won!
My heart stopped when I saw peoria written, but alas, it was not me. It's so freaky that someone else from around here got it though!
Peoria Notre Dame is my schools biggest rival, but I congratulate him nonetheless.

Posted on June 28, 2007 10:42 AM
Woooo! Congrats to everyone! And best of hopes in college and your future endeavors.
And congrats to the Zinch team, for this landmark, for making a well thought-out decision and for making a web site and a scholarship so cultishly addictive.
Posted on June 28, 2007 10:53 AM
That's awesome that Zinch is already to the point of awarding scholarships.
To the person who commented as "Nice.":
How would you know that the winners had the highest test scores?
And the people who got attention on the blog were people selected by a completely different organization. They are more than a test score also - it's just that their test score is higher than average.
Posted on June 28, 2007 12:18 PM
Congratulations everyone! Hopefully the rest of us will be just as lucky :-)
Posted on June 28, 2007 1:02 PM
Thank you Zinch! You all really know how to build suspense, but it paid off (literally!) in the end!
I'll be back for the Sweet-Diggity-Dawg scholarship in a few months!

Thanks!
Posted on June 28, 2007 6:21 PM
We will do stories on each of them in this blog and highlight some of the things they've done. You'll definitely get to know them.
Posted on June 28, 2007 6:24 PM

Posted on July 2, 2007 11:02 AM
Hey! I was at that FBLA Conference, and I totally stopped at your booth and got a button. Y'all were out of t-shirts, though :( I'd never heard of Zinch (or these scholarships) until then... but now I have a whole profile and everything. This is really an awesome concept. So I just wanted to say that your publicity is working! I'm one of the 2 signatures in pink on your sign from the FBLA Conference... look for it!
Posted on July 2, 2007 8:36 PM
Haha. That's awesome. Yes, we definitely remember the pink signatures. I'm glad you like Zinch. Let your friends know. Apply for the Flavor.

Hey, thank you so much for choosing me for the New York Scholarship. I too have many times been a "finalist" for these type of things and then not won (National Merit, Presidential Scholars, and others). So it is truly gratifying to finally win.
Question though, what happens from here. Do you mail me an officially statement, or just the check made out to my school or what? I'm just wondering because I need to tell my school about the scholarship, and they need some documentation or something.
Thanks so much again.

Good luck with your studies winners and losers.
