March Madness: Why, oh why?
This is all about an equal playing field. I just fielded another phone call from a mother who wanted to know why some votes were lost. WE ARE NOT DELETING VOTES. We are making the votes fair. I know it might seem odd that we need to do it this way, but let me share some specific examples why.
"I am one of the semi-finalists. I would like to apologize for my friend's action earlier today.
She did not read the rules, deleted the cookie and did multiple voting.
I am extremely sorry, and thank Zinch for giving me another chance. Please let me know if this happens again. Again, I apologize."
"Hi, I was using someone's computer and they have weird internet settings. I was having problems voting and so I was refreshing. Then I got this message:
'Someone from this IP Address (location) has already voted for XXXXXXXXX.
Try voting from your home or another location. Cheaters beware...'
I saw this and I think I might have cast multiple votes! How do I fix it? I don't want my friend to get disqualified!"
If we don’t do it by IP address, we will have someone cheat their way to victory (on purpose or accidently). We had to do this to make it fair. We are really working hard to make sure this is done the right way. Again, we’re sorry we have to do it this way, but we promise this makes it fair for everyone, even though it might not feel that way as you see your votes drop. In the long run, this will be better for everybody.
To make it fair, we will add another day to semi-finalist voting. NEW END DATE FOR SEMI’S IS MARCH 11TH.
Counselors, Parents and Students, keep the support up for our semi-finalists, it’s been awesome to see! Have your co-workers, friends, and family vote from home computers, or any and all computers they can, but we’ll only count one per IP address. GOOD LUCK AGAIN, and way the best (and most honest) student win.
