College: I think I'm too excited
College, College, College. I want some!
With a little more than two weeks until my Early Decision deadline, I can truthfully say that I never stop thinking about college and about how much my life will radically change in less than a year...
I think I’m too excited for my number one college. I’ve already narrowed down my two favorite dorm buildings, I’ve spoken to current students, and I’ve began healthily stalking their unofficial student-run website. Obsessed much? My feet are itching to touch the campus grounds. My brain is ready for those hardcore classes. Although I should be thinking about my current Halloween costume, I’m actually pondering over what costume I’ll sport when I go off to college. The other day in my Anatomy and Physiology class, my teacher said something to the effect of, “…Another example is collagen…” and, I swear, I heard “college” instead and immediately my ears perked and I was awoken from my morning drowsiness. College, you seven letter word, can you accept me already (or better yet, let it be September 2009)? Happy Halloween everyone :)

So great to hear you are excited for college. At least for me, college was the best time of my life. However, I just want to caution against getting so excited that you don't appreciate your senior year. When I was a senior, I was so over high school that I never stopped to appreciate it. Now I would love to go back and be able to go to a high school prom, have my parents pay my bills and have someone to do my laundry. Enjoy it while you still can. Being an adult isn't all it's cracked up to be.

As a college admissions professional, I completely agree with Elizabeth. College is definitely going to be a lot of fun, work, and a great opportunity to discover who are. But don't forget to enjoy where you are right now.
There are a lot of great things to learn and experience during your senior year of high school, so embrace them all and then college will be an even better experience.
